Thanks for joining us for Episode 12.
Howard, T and I have a chat about important stuff like Duff beer, what happened to Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, a collapsing crater in Siberia, why people put their kids? photos on Facebook, and, most importantly, we have a discussion you will find nowhere else about blocking on Twitter and why automated blocking apps are a truly DUMB idea if you are trying to do science outreach. We give you some insider information on blacklisting, Twitter crime, and getting one of those blue verified Twitter checkmarks.
First, Howard tells you what to do and not to do at Universal Studios:
On Dr. Burzynski: the Houston Cancer quack is allowed to continue his unproven treatment techniques after he gets only a minor rebuke from the Texas Medical Board over errant billing practices and unethical behaviors. The case was not about the antineoplastons treatment.
This land subsidence is related to melting of permafrost but may have more complicating factors than just global warming. Check out the story of Batagaika crater on Spooky Geology.
We discuss a bit about the history of the Environmental Protection Agency. How did the EPA come about? This piece from WNYC?s On the Media is fantastic.
Did this girl?s Mom fall for a ghost hoax? This so-called ghost selfie was popular on social media but it is a total fail as evidence of spirits. It?s clearly concocted.
T said it looks like Kony. But it?s obviously manufactured. Maybe stop sharing this kind of stuff. It?s silly.
Blocking apps and subscriptions on Twitter are commonly used by women involved in social justice, feminism, #Gamergate, atheism and science communities. While we get why they may wish to use them, they no longer make sense. The Blockbot story appeared on the BBC in August 2013. Here?s what we had to say about it then. We haven?t changed our minds. Pre-emptive blocking is lazy and a dumb strategy for social media. Stop it.

Howard and T mention some Twitter fails from the professional wrestling world.
Whoa. We covered a lot of ground in this show. Please share and spread the word.
Thanks!
